A star-studded showcase of British actors will take place in Stratford tomorrow, featuring comedian and actor Lenny Henry. MonologueSlam UK at the Theatre Royal Stratford East will give actors of all backgrounds a chance to perform in front of prestigious industry pros.
TV actress Chizzy Akudolu, who plays surgeon Mo Effanga in the BBC’s Holby City, will host the event on August 18.
Judges include Gary Davy, casting director for Band of Brothers, Jeremy Zimmermann, casting director for Hellboy, and Daniel Edwards, casting director for Mr Selfridge, Ripper Street and Sherlock.
The showcase was created by award-winning actors Fraser Ayres and Jimmy Akingbola in December 2008 to provide a free and exciting platform for actors to practice their craft and improve their performance skills.
Twenty actors are given the opportunity to perform for an audience and panel full of individuals in a position to develop their careers.
