The professional boxing show at the Troxy in Stepney on Friday night is further evidence that York Hall’s reputation as the ‘Home of British boxing’ is fading fast.

The Bethnal Green venue, which was number one for many years, now stages only occasional tournaments with amateur and professional promoters moving elsewhere.

Spencer Fearon, who promoted regularly at York Hall in the past, now stages a show at the Stepney venue with Choi Tseveenpurev taking on Jose Dos Santos in a 12-round WBC International featherweight title clash.

TKO Gym-based cruiserweight Mitchell Balker can put a sixth win on his pro record, but will be tested by Leeds 23-year-old China Clarke who is currently unbeaten in eight fights.

Another east Londoner, Larry Ekundayo, is billed for a pro debut at light-middleweight, while Darren Hamilton meets Barry Morrison at light-welterweight on the Troxy show which also features Martin Welsh and Nathan Graham.
