Moosa Patel is making quite a name for himself down at Plashet Park Bowls Club.

After winning the Fixed Jack competition against Vic Byrne the previous week, he then went into the pairs final full of confidence as he teamed up with Barry Menzies.

They came up against Frank Adams and Dilaver Master in the final over 18 ends and despite a cagey start, it was Patel and Menzies who proved the strongest.

In the end they ran out winners by 16-9 to take the trophy.

There was more tough luck for Master in the Yard from the Jack competition as he was beaten by A Bashir Patel, despite a real fight.

It was Bashir who was fast out of the blocks and by halfway, Master found himself eight shots adrift.

He fought back hard, but Bashir held on well to get home by 23-18.

Plashet Park bowed out in the semi-final of the East Ham & District Triples on Tuesday when they were pipped by Poplar over on neutral territory at North Greenwich.

Alan Hogwood’s team of Harry Morley and Cliff Dye found Poplar skip John Hansen in superb form as he claimed many of the ends single-handed on the day.

Plashet fought all the way, but in the end it was Hansen and his team of Paul Burrows and Joe Burke who booked their place in the final by 21-16.
