The University of East London has been voted one of the top universities in the UK for sport by in the Which? University Student Survey 2017.
The influential survey, which was published on 27 September, rated UEL as one of the country’s eight top sporty unis, alongside well known sports universities such as Loughborough, Bath and Durham.
More than 8,000 students across the country took part in the survey, which looked at areas such as elite athlete services, facilities and sports clubs.
The news comes after a record-breaking year for UELSports.

John White, Interim Director of Sport, said: “This is a fantastic result for UEL.
“We will continue to work with students to make their experience here as memorable as possible.
“Last year 1,276 students took part in our sports participation programme, MyUELSports, and we want to continue to inspire and engage students in a healthy lifestyle.
“We have risen over 21 places in the BUCS league table since 2013 and now have over 20 sports clubs competing against universities across the country.”
UEL students compete in sports ranging from basketball to cheerleading, from novice to elite level.
Many of these are housed in the University’s £21 million sports facility, SportsDock.
