University of East London men’s basketball first team capped off a historical BUCS Premier South regular season with a 26-point victory on the road against University of Bath.

The success means UEL have gone through their first ever season in the top flight undefeated and finish with an impressive record of 10 wins and no losses.

Contrary to what the final score line suggests, the fixture with Bath was very close and competitive throughout the first three quarters.

Bath put on an impressive shooting performance in front of their home crowd and led the affair throughout most of the first half.

However, UEL regained some control of the game before half time and went in leading 49-42 at the break. The hot shooting continued as the hosts kept UEL’s lead to single digits going into the 4th quarter.

Nevertheless, UEL showed a lot of grit and toughness in the final period before eventually pulled away in the fourth quarter.

This win now means UEL have gone undefeated two regular seasons in a row, which is credit to coach JP Campbell and UELSports.

The team go into the BUCS Final 8’s, which take place on March 14 and 15 at SportsDock, in good form and will be looking to build on their performances.
