Tower Hamlets beat London APSA and the weather

London APSA hosted Tower Hamlets last weekend in one of only three Essex Senior League matches to go ahead and the visitors came away happiest.
An early goal from Luke With and another in the second half from Steve Brown ensured Keith Oppong’s late goal for APSA was only a consolation.
Tower Hamlets manager Ajibola Olatunbosun was delighted with the 2-1 win which moved them joint top of the league.
He said: “It was amazing to get it on, we hadn’t played for about four weeks, so it was great to be back playing.
“It wasn’t comfortable, we went two up and scored early, which helped, but APSA did really well. Second half they were the better team, but my keeper made three top saves.

“I am delighted to be top. Me and Steve Willis sat down at the start of the season and said we wanted to be there, second or third and we are, so it is great.”
His opposite number Zakir Hussain was disappointed to lose but praised his side.

The APSA manager said finishing has been the difference all season, adding: “Neither side was at their sharpest but we both had some good chances.
“The early goal helped them control the game. It was a great finish by the lad but a poor goal to concede. It was always going to be tough but we matched them.
“We are definitely competing with the top teams. On paper we are up there with the top six, but the league table doesn’t represent that.
“The difference has been our finishing. On performances we have matched nearly every team this season.”
APSA face Basildon United tomorrow (Thursday) and are then away to Sawbridgeworth Town on Saturday.
Hussain admitted: “If it rains between now and Thursday I can’t see Basildon going ahead.
“On Sawbridgeworth, they are well drilled and organised side. But we are on equal terms with teams like Sawbridgeworth so we go there with nothing to fear.”
Tower Hamlets face Greenhouse London on Saturday, a match they need to be winning.
Hussain added: “We should, on paper, be getting the three points but no game is easy.
“Every game between now and the end of the season is a cup final if we want to win the league. The weather is fine at the moment, if it can stay like this hopefully we’ll get it on.”
Clapton, London Bari and Sporting Bengal all had last weekend’s fixtures postponed.
