Newham put local rivals Bow Green to the sword to claim a 302-run win in their Essex County League Premier Division derby at Flanders FIeld.

Captain Sajjad Mirza chose to bat first and saw Kashif Iqbal (142) score his maiden century for the club to lay the foundations for a club record 45-over total of 422-8.

Adnan Ashraf (70) and Amit Midha (50) scored quickfire half-centuries, with Mujakkir Hussain (35 not out) and Adnan Khan (44) getting in on the act late on.

Green’s Rayon Younge started quickly in reply, but fell for 32 to Khan (2-32), who produced a hostile spell.

Spin then played a major role as Kashif (2-27) and Zahid struck, before Arjun Singh Rana (3-6) helped dismiss the visitors for just 120 and captain Mirza said: “This was an efficient and ruthless display. We need to play every game with this intensity and commitment. Special mention for Kashif and Arjun but there were great performances throughout.”
