Newham Youngbloods enjoyed a successful weekend as they picked up a whole host of wins throughout the age groups.

The under-18 male team played host to Brixton Topcats, and despite it being both teams opening game of the season they put on a good show.

Comprising of players moving up an age group and others from disbanded clubs, the Youngbloods stormed ahead and they held the lead from start to finish for an 82-70 win.

Croydon Elite were the opposition for the under-16s team and despite both teams matching eachother through the early stages, the Newham side took a stranglehold of the tie and went on to record an easy 112-57 win with Cleve Charles top scoring.

But it was much tighter for the under-15s in their tie against Ashford Giants.

The visitors established an early lead in the opening quarter before the Youngbloods came back to level things going into the third quarter.

But the Newham youngsters began to dominate and led by 17 points at one stage in the penultimate period.

Ashford fought back and moved in front by three points before coach Caroline Charles called a time-out.

That allowed them to regain their composure and the Giants buckled under the pressure as Youngbloods sealed a 91-88 win.

And the youngest team on show for the Newham side, the under-14s, continued the winning theme with a 97-70 success over Barking & Dagenham.
