Club youngsters combine for more medals at UEL
Stratford Judo Club youngsters got among the medals at the London Schools’ event at University of East London.
Omar Lecointe, 13, won all four of his fights in the under-66kg category to claim gold, while Lena James, also 13, picked up silver in her over-63kg category, having overcome a knee injury.
Adam Seyad took silver at under-50kg level and coach Paul Willis said: “For a nine-year-old this was his first major competition. He did well by controlling every right.”
Youcef Belkai also won silver in the same age group and Mohammed Boudemagh, 13, took silver in the open category.
Willis added: “Mohammed fought extremely well, considering he has less competition experience than others. This was a good confidence-building exercise.”
The 15-year-old Mohammed Bosseta was also in action and finished fifth in the under-55kg section.
“I was extremely happy with the performance from all the players,” added Willis.
“I would like to congratulate all of them. They must continue to work hard for the junior finals in Sheffield in April.”
