Newham pupils battle it out in mixed competition

St Joachim’s School were crowned champions at the mixed handball competition held by Langon Academy Sports Partnership.

They began their schedule with a big 6-1 win over Vicarage, before a 4-0 victory over Ellen Wilkinson in the quarter finals, and a 7-2 triumph over St Luke’s saw them land a place in the final.

A 5-4 win over St Helen’s in the final saw them clinch the silverware, as St Luke’s beat Sandringham 6-4 in the third-place play-off.

Other schools involved in the competition were Britannia Village, Calverton, Curwen, Ellen Wilkinson, Hallsville, Kaizen, Kier Hardie, Scott Wilkie, Ranelagh, Ravenscroft, Southern Road and Vicarage from the Cumberland Sport Partnership.

While, Elmhurst, Essex, Lathom, Nelson, North Beckton, Roman Road, Sandringham, Sheringham, St Anthony’s, St Edward’s, St Francis, St Helen’s, St James, St Luke’s and St Michael’s made up the Langdon Academy Sport Parternship teams.
