St Bonaventure’s basketball starlet Adelaja Ogidan was presented with a Jack Petchey award for always encouraging his team-mates to try their best and his team spirit.

And after seeing his team secure a place in the national finals of the Basketball England Premier Schools’ competition in Leicester later this year, 16-year-old Ogidan used his award money to buy specially printed t-shirts for the teams to wear in their warm-up.

PE teacher Paolo Ancora said: “He really keeps the team together and is a fantastic player. He is mature and a fantastic young man.”
