Ravenscroft Primary’s year four pupils were crowned East London’s rapidfire cricket champions at Plashet School last week.
After only two practice sessions with coach Ugo Norcaro, the children did not really know what to expect from the new, exciting version of the game.
Three other schools took part in the Cumberland School Sport Partnership event – Keir Hardie, Park and Saliisbury – and Ravenscroft won all three of their matches, while also being the only school on the day to record a three-figure score (103).
As well as their excellent performance with bat and ball, the adults who accompanied them, Mr Khan and Mr Surfaraz, said the children were also complimented for their sporting attitude and fair play.
A spokesperson said: “Well done to all the players, who have won through to the Essex final when they will have to rise to an even bigger challenge. But after their performance they must have a chance.”
