Primary school see off rivals to land a place at the London Youth Games

Calverton Primary teams finished first in both groups at a recent tennis event held by the Cumberland School Sports Partnership.

The school, who entered an ‘A’ and a ‘B’ team into the event, beat off their rivals to represent the borough for the second year running at the London Youth Games in Crystal Palace later this year.

With the teams split into three groups of five, Calverton A won their pool to make it through to the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, Calverton A took on Lathom and were able to record a 6-0 win.

The final saw another 6-0 victory for Calverton A against Ravenscroft.

Calverton B also won the gold after beating Lathom in the final, while Calverton C finished third, after being allowed in the B category when Ravenscroft B team pulled out.
