Calverton Primary School pupils impressed during a cross-country event held at West Ham Park by the Cumberland Sports Partnership.

A total of 17 schools were entered into the action, with more than 30 children in action in each age group.

And Calverton had plenty to celebrate as they saw five of their pupils come home first in five of the six individual races, with another claiming second in the year five girls’ race.

The year four boys claimed the team prize in their category, while the year five boys’ and girls’ squads both finished as runners-up.

“The event was very well run and started and finished on time,” said Robert Cooper.

Calverton results – individual: year six girls’ winner, year six boys’ winner, year five girls’ winner, year four boys’ winner, year four girls’ winner, year five girls’ second place; teams: year four boys’ winners, year five boys’ runners-up, year five girls’ runners-up.
