Calverton Primary School pupils served up gold and silver medals at the first-ever badminton competition staged by the Cumberland Sports Partnership.

A total of 12 teams entered, with Calverton’s A and B teams making it through to the semi-finals alongside Kier Hardy A and B.

Both Calverton teams clinched 3-1 wins over their Kier Hardy counterparts in the last four, with the A team then winning the final against their classmates by the same margin to claim top spot.

Teacher Rob Cooper said: “Again, it was run very well and I think Anne Marie and Simone from the Cumberland Sports Partnership should take credit for that.”
