Newham pupils battle it out in a mixed tennis competition.

Calverton were crowned champions at the mixed KS2 year five and six tennis competition held by Langdone Academy Sports Partnership at Langdon Academy yesterday.

They began their schedule with a big 6-0 win over St Joachim’s, before a 6-0 victory over St Michael’s, to finish top of the group stage to cruise into the final.

A 6-0 win over St Joachim’s in the final saw them clinch the silverware and remain undefeated.

Calverton dominated the final with a 10-2 win in the girls’ number one, 10-0 in the boys’ number one, 10-2 in the girls’ number two, 10-2 in the boy’s number two, before winning the two hard-fought doubles matches 10-6 and 10-7.

The event was one of a number of Langdon Academy Sport Partnership competitions held recently.
