School Sport: Aldersbrook bag Newham handball title

Aldersbrook Primary School were victorious in a boys handball competition for year five and six pupils.

A total of nine schools took part in the key stage two event, staged by the Langdon Academy Sport Partnership, with Aldersbrook beating Sandringham 6-5 in the final.

Aldersbrook beat Langdon (5-1) and St Helen’s (6-3), before suffering a 7-6 defeat to Sandringham to finish second in their group.

The boys picked themselves up by brushing aside Nelson Primary (5-2) in the quarter-finals and squeezing past St Edward’s (6-5) in the semi-finals.

The side got revenge over Sandringham with 6-4 win in the final to clinch the silverware, as St Edward’s eased past St Helen’s 11-2 in third-place play-off.

The school’s involved in the competition were Aldersbrook, Cleveland, Elmhurst, Langdon, Nelson, Sandringham, St Edward’s, St Francis’ and St Helen’s on a busy day of handball.

The event was one of a number of Langdon Academy Sport Partnership competitions held recently.
