Millwall Lions are back to roar their way to another rugby season as they begin their summer programme of activities on Millwall Park.

After successfully fielding many age groups last season, the Isle of Dogs club will be consolidating this season with new teams and new enthusiasm.

Millwall will field teams at under-10, under-12 and under-16 level as they look to introduce more youngsters to the sport, with a plan to introduce an under-14s team as well.

The club are now looking for new recruits to help strengthen their playing ranks in all age groups.

Pre-season training, which includes rugby fitness for kids along with tag rugby, is currently being run on Wednesday evenings at Millwall Park from 6pm-7pm.

During the summer holidays in July and August, the club will
also be running sessions from 11am-4pm at Millwall Park, every Friday.

All sessions are free and players between the ages of 7-17 are welcome to come along and take part.

Youth chairman Matt Shorrock said: “We’re extremely excited about the new youth rugby season.

“Building on the success of last season, we have an established group of youngsters to build on, which is evidence of just how far we have come as a club in such a short space of time.

“This is shaping up to be a big year for junior rugby in Tower Hamlets.”
