Season begins with an away day for Eddie Gooby’s men

East London will want to get the new London Three Essex season off to a flyer with a victory away to Ilford Wanderers in their first game on Saturday.

The Memorial Recreation Ground club will want to improve on their fourth-place finish in the league last season, and a victory over Wanderers on Saturday would be the perfect way for East London to kick start that drive.

Saturday will also see Eddie Gooby take charge of the club for the first time, having taken over as head coach in the summer.

Gooby will have been hard at work throughout the summer to get his new charges to buy into his ethos.

And the new East London boss will hope that hard work leads to a positive result on Saturday as he bids to guide his team to a win on the opening day of the new term.

Against Ilford, East London will be coming up against a side who won promotion from the Essex Canterbury Jack One Premier in the previous campaign.
