Peacock ABC endured a weekend of defeats at the Amateur Boxing Alliance Novice Championships.

The club had four national finalists in Avnish Patel, Denis Denikajev, Rahim Lake and Ivo Odiefe all fighting at the event on Sunday.

Patel lost a split decision to A.Smith from Eltham ABC in the Class A, 67kg final and Denikajev lost out in a very close fight to Charlie Wincote (Lyn ABC) in the Class B 71kg final, although coach Robert Russell felt his fighter did enough to win and felt hard done by on the decision.

Lake lost to O. French from London Military BC on a split decision in the Class B 91kg final and Odiefe, after a few tough fights to get to the final, lost to a controversial decision in the second round of the super-heavyweight final as the referee stopped the fight prematurely against Dave Adeleye (Dale Youth).
