Leon is looking to bounce back at Walsall

Orient defender Leon McSweeney believes the team will learn important lessons following Saturday’s defeat by Doncaster Rovers and will be looking to return to winning ways at Walsall tonight.

“We go to Walsall still on the back of a good run, three wins and a draw in five,” said McSweeney.

“And we will go up there and try and do a job on them.”

Orient’s recent good run came to an abrupt halt with a 2-0 defeat against Doncaster on Saturday and McSweeney admitted: “It was a set back, there is no doubt about that.

“But Doncaster have come down from the Championship and they are going to be there or thereabouts, so we can’t get too disheartened.

“It was just the manner of how they beat us is what we’re aggrieved with. But saying that we have learned lessons and we will go up to Walsall and try, with confidence, to do a job on them.

McSweeney was disappointed that O’s struggled in the first half against Doncaster.

“We made it easy for them,” he reflected.

“From one to 11 we were not bright enough at the start,” he said.

“We just needed to show a bit more guile, especially in the attacking third.

“We didn’t ask enough questions of their two centre-halves. We didn’t turn them enough, we didn’t get the ball into our strikers’ feet.

“In the end, they had a comfortable afternoon heading aimless balls we were pumping up to our two lads who worked really hard, but the service up to them has to improve.”
