Francis picked for European Karate Championships

Newham’s Shoujin Karate Kai are very excited to announce that James (JJ) Francis has been selected to represent England at the European Under-21 Championships in Bulgaria in February 2017.

Francis celebrated his 14th birthday in September, making him eligible for consideration, and went through a rigourous selection process by the English Karate Federation to gain his place on the national team.

The EKF are affiliated to the World Karate Federation and hope to present athletes to represent Great Britain at the Olympics from 2020.

A club spokesperson said: “Shoujin hopes that JJ will follow in the foosteps of England’s recent world champion Jordan Thomas to reach his goals and we wish him every success.”
