Newham district under-13s started of their new campaign with a comfortable 4-2 home win against Maidstone in the national cup first round.
Two early goals from Troy Bedzo (Lister) and Malachi Alexander Quarcoo (Oasis Academy) placed Newham pole position to book their place in the next round.
Nonetheless two set-pieces cost Newham and Maidstone District pulled the game level.
However ten minutes from time another goal from Malachi Alexander Quarcoo and Samson Uwandu (St Bons) finished off their opponent’s to book Newham a second round away tie against Basildon district.
Man of the match performance went to Malachi Alexander Quarcoo who demonstrated a never say attitude capped with two fabulous goals in a very important match.
Coach Terry Bobie Agyekum said: “The boys performed well and once again have showed other boroughs exactly what Newham district are capable off.
“We look forward to the games ahead and I’m sure the boys are relishing the opportunity ahead.”
