The electric atmosphere and noise of the Copper Box Arena at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park couldn’t help the girls’ side get past the quarter-finals on the weekend.

They started brightly beating Croydon (4-0), Tower Hamlets (7-3), Islington (4-1), but they did suffer a (3-2) defeat to Redbridge which left them as group runners up.

The tournament came to a crashing end for the girls, after they lost out in a hard-fought quarter final against the eventual silver medallists Hackney.

While, the day after the boys also fell short in their finals, as they finished just outside the medals in fourth place.

The boys lost 5-1 to Haringey in the battle for bronze, after missing out on the final on penalties to Hackney in their semi-final tie.

Newham will now look for success in other sports.
