Gorelcenka picked for kumite and kata squads

Shoujin Karate Kai’s Jorunas Gorelcenka has been celebrating after earning a call-up to the England Karate Federation’s national youth teams.

The 10-year-old has been picked for both kumite and kata disciplines, after a gruelling weekend of training at Bath University and selections in Leicestershire.

And the youngster, who is coached by Shoujin Karate Kai sensei Tony Solley, was understandably delighted to receive confirmation of his spot on both teams and his national badges, saying: “I am happy and excited to work even harder with my coach and the national coaching team towards events in the UK and Finland.”

Shoujin now has three confirmed students competing nationally and hopes to see a few more join in the future.

Anyone interested in training with Shoujin should contact for more details.
