Youngsters combine for medals at latest events
Stratford Judo Club fielded a record 15 players at the London and North Home Counties Development Competition and increased their medal tally considerably.
Ciprian Cirstea won 27kg bronze, as Youcef Belkadi took under-34kg silver, and Adam Hocine (u42kg) and Dominic Marku (u46kg) also won bronze.
Gurpit Sanger, Joseph Beaver and Luka Johnson were fifth in their events, while Zakaria Mansour won gold at under-50kg and Tyler Hinde took silver at under-57kg.
Phoebe Kato and Roderick Ema added further gold medals at over-73kg and under-81kg respectively, while Lena James won gold at the London Area Open at UEL to earn more points towards her black belt.
Delighted club coach Paul Willis said: “Ciprian fought extremely well considering he usually fights at one weight division below and Tyler fought extremely well and managed to keep himself together to win the medal.
“I was very happy and excited with the development of all my red belts. We look forward to further success.
“I was very happy with Lena’s performance because she controlled her nerves, kept her composure and secured a gold. Lena is back to her winning ways.”
