Player-coach Warren D’Souza, Belgian Gaston Golstein and Jonny Verity made their debuts for the hosts, who took the lead when Nat Crawley and Ben Bull combined for Ollie Bull to tap in.

Tom Sibley’s strong run up the left side then set up a chance for Golstein to double the advantage before half time and Verity got in on the act with a fine run and shot after the restart.

Ben Bull tapped in number four for Wapping, before defender Mark Bennett produced a brilliant block on the line to deny the visitors a consolation.

And D’Souza’s men will look to make it three in a row when they travel to Cambridge University this weekend.

The news was not so good for Wapping’s women as they fell to a second successive 1-0 defeat in their East Premier division.

Having returned from Norwich empty-handed in their opener, they began well against their Chelmsford rivals and dominated the first quarter.

The visitors had an effort ruled out by the umpires, but caught Wapping napping with a quick ball through the middle which was tapped into the bottom right corner.

And despite applying plenty of pressure in search of an equaliser, the home side could not find a goal and will hope for better as they visit Canterbury seconds on Saturday.

The seconds beat Stevenage 4-0 with goals from Jo Ward, Emma Skinner, Fran Sutton and Henny Hinchliffe, as the fourths saw off Witham 5-0 as Caroline Matthews (2), Laura Humphrey, Anna Fisher and Nina Belk struck.

Katy Needham nabbed a brace for the fifths in their 3-0 win over Basildon, as Anna Nicklin also netted, while the eighths saw off Old Southendian thirds by a 6-1 margin.

Tali Osen hit a hat-trick, as Caroline Dale (2) and Faye Zeller also got in on the act.

The men’s second string beat Shefford & Sandy with a lone goal from Mathew Hyden, while the fifths ran out 5-2 victors over Crostyx seconds, as Max Parsons, Tom Hammond and Ian Harman all got on the scoresheet.

Dan Lou and Matt Patt scored as the eighths beat Crostyx thirds 2-1, while the thirds drew 0-0 with the Crostyx first team.

Fareed Anes, Sahil Haria and Chris Young netted as the sixth team drew 3-3 with Southend and two goals from Hans Mehrens earned the tens a point from a 2-2 draw with Redbridge thirds.

Ollie Kean, Matt Wheeler and Jon Lowe netted as the nines lost 6-3 to Chelmsford fourths.
