Martial Arts: Stratford Judo juniors impress at Red Belt Championship in Bishop’s Stortford

Stratford Judo Club continued hauling in the medals at the Red Belt (Junior) Championship in Bishop’s Stortford.

Weight categories were well represented by Stratford judokas, beginning with Samuel Pritchard taking silver in the under-35kg category.

This was followed by Luka Johnson winning gold in the under-36kg event, while Arthur Pushkarov added to the tally in the same category by claiming silver.

Adam Hocine had three fights to win gold in the under-38kg division, while Edgar Boreiko won bronze in under-42kg event, demonstrating his favoured ‘Ogoshi’ throw.

Dominic Marcu completed the medal tally by taking a silver in the under-46kg, winning two fights with the Ogoshi throw he had recentl been taught.

“I went to Bishop’s Stortford with no expectation from the beginners,” said coach Paul Willis.

“All of our juniors went out with a good fighting spirit and fought very hard.

“I was very happy with Stratford’s success at the end of the day. It bodes well for the future.”
