Beckton’s East London Tang Soo Do had plenty to celebrate at the GB National Karate Championships at Nottingham University.

All competitors competed in three catagories – Weapons, Hyungs (Patterned form) and Fighting.

And the East London squad won 20 first-place trophies in an impressive haul of over 50, as well as the black belt team hyungs division for the fourth year in a row.

The youngster member came first in the junior division and master Rommel Bernarte said: “All of the students worked extremely hard in preparation for this competition.

“Their commitment and dedication has been rewarded with all of the accolades received and are fully deserved. I am very proud of all them.”

A group of 11 students will represent Great Britain at the World Championships in North Carolina in July.
