London Lions will look to build on last season's runners-up finish when they open their new BBL campaign at home against the Glasgow Rocks on Friday (September 21).
Vince Macaulay’s side will welcome the Rocks to the Copper Box Arena in Stratford as they look to get off to a winning start in front of their own fans.
The Newham-based outfit will then make the long trip to face the Plymouth Raiders for their first away fixture of the season on Sunday.
And they go into the league matches on the back of a strong pre-season campaign, after sealing six victories out of six friendly fixtures.
The Lions played their final pre-season match on Sunday and ran out 116-95 winners against the Surrey Scorchers at the University of East London SportsDock.
The night before they sealed a comfortable 121-72 away win against National Basketball League side Worthing Thunder.
Prior to that they played four matches at the Essex Classic in Brentwood and beat a Team USA Select side 69-29 and the hosts Leopards 77-62.
The following day they played another two matches, this time against American side Libertyville Vipers where they ran out 77-62 winners, before tackling the Select team once again in the final.
Lions cruised to a comfortable 101-50 win against the Americans to come out on top at the tournament.
They will now be keen to take that form into their match against last season’s fourth-placed finishers Glasgow this weekend.
Coach Macaulay said: “We are pleased with where we are right now. Joe (Ikhinmwin) had a run out for the first time after a knock, we know things will only get harder as we enter BBL play.
“I think we can be more ruthless, but our running game is going to be something we focus on this season, with so many ball handlers and so many athletes. UEL have afforded us the best facilities in the country and we are working with good people.”
Captain Joe Ikhinmwin is hoping for a packed-out crowd at the Copper Box Arena for their opening night match.
He tweeted: “Make sure you got your tickets for London Lions first game of the 2018/19 BBL season against Glasgow Rocks this Friday.”
