Locals bid for Haringey Box Cup honours

Local amateurs will bid for honours at the 10th annual Haringey Box Cup at Alexandra Palace this weekend.

Europe’s biggest boxing competition attracts around 500 entries in competitions starting on Friday and continuing on Saturday and Sunday.

Set to appear for West Ham are seniors Tyrane Winters (56kg), Thomas Galbraith (69kg), Ailreza Ghadari (60kg), Albert Moughton (69kg), Deniss Daglis (75kg) and Aaron Palmer-Cenal (91+kg).

Jay Dujon will look for more success in the female 54kg category, while Alfie Mehegan is among the entries in the youth 60kg competition.

Former winners include current IBF, WBA and IBO world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and fellow Olympic gold medalists Nicola Adams and Katie Taylor.
