Boxers from Newham clubs are booked to appear at the Prince Regent Hotel, Chigwell, tonight at ‘The J K Challenge’ – the annual boxing dinner and charity night staged by former world champion Colin McMillan for his old club Barking BC.

They have lined up a great night’s boxing as part of the event, now in it’s ninth year backing various charities, and as usual it will be supported by a host of boxing celebrities and champions.

The evening features local boxers and a team from Abbey BC in Northern Ireland and will raise funds for Barking BC and the Barkingside Rotary Club.

■ Busy promoter Mick Helliet provides the action at the Camden Centre on Friday night, headed by two 10-round contests featuring light-middle weight Wayne Alwan-Arab and lightweight Matty Tew.

Unbeaten light-middleweight Ahmet Patterson gets an eight-rounder on the packed bill – which also includes Tony Owen, Ben Day, Sonny Henty, plus newcomers Miles Shinkwin and Danny Ahrens.
