Patrick Ellis and Ellis Delaney, members of West Ham Boxing club’s highly successful junior and schoolboy squad, head for Wales on Thursday looking to boost the club’s international reputation.

They are named in an England team of junior boxers competing against Scotland and Wales in this weekend’s GB Junior Championships in Cardiff.

The 1995 and 1996-born winners of this year’s ABAE Schools and Junior Championships will battle it out against their counterparts from Scotland and Wales at Cardiff University Campus.

Patrick Ellis is in action in the 42kg class where he is entered alongside Scotland’s talented Ryan Mullen in what should be a straight final.

The two opponents named for Delaney in the 60kg section will both get the benefit of local support – they are Welsh title-holders Sonny Lee and Jim Price.

The tournament gets underway on Thursday and continues until Sunday.
