New club launched for older generation
A new club for cycling enthusiasts is being launched in London – but you have to be over 80 to join!
The Over Eighty CC is the brainchild of Sidney Schuman, the world record holder of the UCI Hour Record for the 80-84 age category.
Schuman aims to get likeminded octogenarian cyclists together for social rides around the Lee Valley and said: “Forget your troubles and get together to have a nice, relaxing ride around the Lee Valley.
“And if you find you’ve enjoyed riding with others who are old enough to know better, then back at the cafe we can plan more rides.”
Jeremy Northrop, Manager of Lee Valley VeloPark, added: “Sidney is an absolute inspiration to cyclists of all ages. We are very proud of the fact that he broke the world record at our venue and I wish him the best of luck in making the cycle club a huge success.”
The first cycle ride will take place on Tuesday 19 May, meeting at 11am at Lee Valley VeloPark in the cafe on the concourse of the velodrome.
Anyone who is interested in joining Over Eighty CC can contact Sidney: firstname.lastname@example.org
Lee Valley VeloPark is located at Abercrombie Road, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London E20 3AB.
