Newham club members shine at British Four Nations event

Shoujin Karate Kai youngsters collected a full set of medals at the prestigious British Four Nations Karate competition in Sheffield at the weekend.

The club took a squad of seven fights to one of the biggest tournaments on the UK calendar, with JJ Francis picking up bronze in the male kumite.

Danielius Pavilonis added silver in the cadet male kata event, while Jorunas Gorelcenka claimed gold and the title of British champion in the 10-year-old male kata.

Sensei Tony Solley said: “Despite a few disappointments for the rest of the team, we have fantastic potential in these athletes and will keep working hard towards future events.”
