Choice International are holding free wheelchair basketball and wheelchair tennis sessions at the East Ham Leisure Centre from midday until 2pm every Saturday.

Wheelchair basketball and wheelchair tennis are among the fastest growing sports for disabled people, as those with a wide range of physical impairments can play, including those with paraplegia, polio, spina bifida, cerebral pals and mutiple sclerosis.

Amputees and those with brittle bones can also compete and disability sport improves quality of life for disabled people and promotes diversity and inclusion.

The free, have-a-go session is open to disabled people, family and anyone passionate about disability sports and social inclusion, aged 10 and over.

“East Ham Leisure Centre has proved to be one of the best venues in East London for disabled people to get involved in sports and fitness, specifically on Saturdays,” said Manoj Soma, coach of wheelchair basketball team the London Defenders.

“It has attracted more disabled people to participate specifically in Wheelchair Basketball, with its ease of access, good transport links and central location.”
