Tough start for the Hammers who can’t play at home in August

West Ham will begin their new Premier League campaign with a daunting trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.

The match, scheduled for Saturday, August 12 was to be followed by a home game against Southampton, but the match will be rescheduled as the London Stadium is holding the World Athletics Championships.

The game may well be switched to St Marys, but that has to be agreed by the two clubs.

The Hammers also face a trip to newly-promoted Newcastle United in August, while the opening home match of the season is set to be against Premier League newboys Huddersfield Town on September 9, which may well please manager Slaven Bilic as he looks for his side to get off to a good start on their home ground.

Tottenham come to east London in September as well, while the Hammers take on champions Chelsea at home on December 9.

Christmas sees Newcastle come to the London Stadium on December 23, with West Ham making the trip to the south coast to take on Bournemouth on Boxing Day.

The Hammers then go to Spurs on Saturday, December 30, before kicking off 2018 with a home clash with West Brom.

The first Premier League trip to sunny Brighton will be on February 3, while West Ham will take on Arsenal at home on December 12 and then away in April.

The final game of the season is a trip to Leicester City on May 5.
