West Ham United midfielder Edimilson Fernandes has signed for Italian Serie A side Fiorentina on a season-long loan.

The 22-year-old Swiss midfielder links up with Stefano Pioli’s men as they look to build on an eighth-place finish in the Italian top flight last season.

Fernandes, who has been capped four times by his country at senior level, joined the Hammers in the summer of 2016 from FC Sion and has turned out on 48 occasions in claret and blue.

He cost £5.5m when he moved to West Ham but he struggled to make an impression, with injuries hampering his progress.

The youngster will look to make the most of his loan spell as Manuel Pellegrini looks to make his mark on the Hammers squad.

Fiorentina are believed to have paid a loan fee for the midfielder.

West Ham United wishes Edimilson all the best for his spell in Italy.
