West Ham face Romanians again in Europa League

West Ham will need to get past Astra to make group stages
West Ham will take on Romanians Astra Giurgiu in the play-ff round of the Europa League.
The two teams met in last season’s competition with the Romanians dumping the Hammers out after winning 2-1 at home in the second leg following a 2-2 draw at Upton Park.
It will give West Ham the chance for revenge for last season’s defeat with the first leg in Romania on August 18 and the return at the Olympic Stadium the following Thursday.
Victory would ut the Hammers into the group stages of the competition.
Astra were in this season’s Champions League competition, but were dumped out of the competition by Copenhagen in their third qualfying round mkatch this week, losing 3-0 in Denmark to go out 4-1 on aggregate.
The draw was made this lunchtime in Nyon following the Hammers victory over Slovenians NK Domzale in the Olympic Stadium last night.
West Ham eased to a 3-0 win in their historic first game in their new stadium as Cheikhou Kouyate struck twice and new boy Sofiane Feghouli added a third in the second half.
That gave the Hammers a 4-2 win on aggregate after losing the first leg the previous week.
