Hammers manager Slaven Bilic revealed what the Frenchman thought of West Ham loanee
Last season, Victor Moses was plying his trade with West Ham during something of an up-and-down loan spell.
Tonight, he is set to line up as a wing-back for Chelsea as they march towards the Premier League title.
Some might be surprised, but perhaps not as surprised as a statement made by Dimitri Payet last season.
Manager Slaven Bilic said: “I remember once I spoke to Payet with a couple of other players and he said that Victor was the best player at the club and he was including himself in that.
“He was serious and it was about time for him to show what he had in himself and explode – he is a top player.”
Hopefully he will not explode for the Blues on Monday night, but Bilic is pleased with the way things have gone for the 26-year-old.
“I haven’t been surprised, I am glad for him,” said Bilic.
“He was our player last year and we enjoyed having him here and he also said he had good memories about his time here.
“His potential and his strength were always amazing, his quality on the ball and his stamina were all top class. Sometimes you had to push him to do it day in, day out and now he is doing that.
“He has proved himself and on top of that he is playing in a position that wasn’t ideal for him which makes his achievement even greater.”
The Nigeria international has played 28 games for Antonio Conte’s side this season, scoring four goals, and he has played most of those matches as a right wing-back.
Chelsea already had plenty of stars – and now it seems they have another in Moses.
