Four Newham schools battled it out in a football competition.

St Joachim’s were crowned champions at the Key Stage One year one and two football tournament staged by Langdon Academy Sport Partnership.

The school breezed through the group stages, winning five and drawing one of their six games, which landed them top spot in the group with 17 points.

They then met fourth-place St Luke’s in the semi-finals, where they sealed a 3-0 victory to progress into the final, before beating St Edward’s 2-1 in the final to be crowned tournament champions.

While, Aldesbrook who finished third in the group managed to seal the bronze medal by beating St Luke’s 1-0 in the third and fourth place match, after losing in a penalty shoot-out to St Edward’s in the semi-finals.

The event was one of a number of Langdon Academy Sport Partnership competitions held recently.
