Carlos Codinha’s team defeated 5-1 at Wolverhampton University in Magdalene Road

Genesis Futsal Club fell short in their efforts to win the Grand Finals of the National Futsal Super League last weekend.

The University of East London-based team made the trip up to Wolverhampton for the big event.

Genesis faced Baku United on Sunday to decide who reached the final, but Carlos Codinha’s side suffered a 5-1 defeat.

It was a disappointing way for the local club to end the campaign, though they can be proud of their efforts.

Baku United lost in the final to Helvecia the following day at the University campus on Magdalene Road.

It wasn’t all bad news for Genesis, however, as they learned on Friday that one of their squad was selected for England again.

Max Killman has been included in a 14-man squad which will head to China next month for a friendly Four Nations tournament.

England will take on China, Malaysia and Czech Republic in the event, which starts on June 23 and ends three days later.
