Tolga Dervish’s team next play in the FA Vase on September 9 after losing at Great Wakering Rovers on Tuesday

Hackney Wick have to wait a while before playing their first Essex Senior League match in September.

Tolga Dervish’s team went 10 days without a game during August and aren’t in action until September 9 now.

Wick travelling to Great Wakering Rovers on Tuesday and lost 2-0 having suffered a 3-2 defeat at home to Basildon United on Saturday.

A crowd of 178 watched Dervish’s team produce a thriller at the Old Spotted Dog last weekend.

Matteo King’s double helped Wick hit back in Forest Gate, but the hosts suffered heartbreak at the end of the match.

Bees scored the winner on the stroke of full time to take all three points.

It was cruel on Wick, though they can take plenty of positives from the clash.

After visiting Great Wakering Rovers, Dervish now has 10 days to prepare for their first round qualifying tie in the FA Vase at Tower Hamlets before visiting Wadham Lodge in the league on September 13.
