Clapton got back to winning ways on their return to action after a 14-day break.

Substitute Iken Odeh was the matchwinner for Jon Fowell’s Tons, scoring with his first touch on 41 minutes after replacing the injured Nathan Cook.

Ramblers were given a great chance to get back on level terms, though, when they were awarded a penalty in an incident that also saw Quincy Egbejale sent off.

But the spot-kick was saved by Mark Kavanagh and victory lifted Tons up to 12th ahead of Tuesday’s home meeting with West Essex.

Clapton: Kavanagh, Egbejale, Bello, Cook (Odeh) (Reed), Ebengo, Hill, Loblack, Morris (Cobblah), Sardinha, Spencer, Vigo.

Hackney Wick faced a tough trip to Takeley, who took over at the top of the table on goal difference following their 4-1 win.

Stuart Zanone headed home from Mike Castle’s cross on 14 minutes to open the scoring at Station Road and Jason Todd made it 2-0 from close range towards the end of the first half.

Todd tapped in a Mitchell Das cross four minutes into the second half, before Zanone hit the post with a penalty.

Wick hit back through substitute Saico Djop, but the hosts had the last word in stoppage time as Das claimed their fourth goal of the game.

It was a seventh defeat in eight outings for Wick, who are due to visit Waltham Forest on Wednesday.
