Tons might have to concede defeat in their battle to finish first this weekend, as the Blues can seal promotion to Ryman North

Clapton travel to basement Essex Senior League club Haringey & Waltham this weekend hoping by 5pm they will still be in the title race.

Leaders Barking could wrap up promotion if they manage to win at Stansted on Saturday.

But Jon Fowell’s Tons will be looking to do their part of the deal and claim a victory at the Terence McMillan Stadium.

It was confirmed yesterday (Tuesday) that Clapton had been given the points from their last match.

The Tons were winning 1-0 at Sawbridgeworth Town when the game was abandoned in stoppage time due to an altercation.

Clapton’s one-goal victory moves them back up to second and onto 80 points from their 38 fixtures.

Tons and FC Romania have both played the same amount of games and just two points separates the sides.

Clapton will hope to focus on the football this weekend and extend their unbeaten run to six matches.
