Clapton fell to a sixth straight defeat in all competitions as they lost 3-0 to Sawbridgeworth Town at the Old Spotted Dog.

The Robins held a slender lead at the break thanks to a Joe Wright goal and then doubled their lead early on in the second period when Aaron Thomas netted his fifth goal in three games.

It was three when Terrell Hunter grabbed one too and seal a terrific three points for the Robins.

It was also a special day for 16 year old James Askew, who made his debut in goal for the visitors and kept a clean sheet, meaning Clapton failed to score again and remain in sixth spot.

Manager Jonny Fowell tweeted after the match: “Clapton football I’m so disappointed today goalkeeper gets injured in warm up, no centre-back, back four all playing out of position due to injuries and holidays, got to stick together we can’t play that poor again. Well done to John Watters deserved the three points.”
