Clapton fell to a heavy 0-3 defeat against Essex Senior League new boys Saffron Walden Town last night.

Goals from Julian Simon-Parson, Charlie Portway and Greg Strong sealed all three points for the Wardens at the Old Spotted Dog.

The visitors broke the deadlock when Julian Simon-Parson netted in the 12th minute of the match.

Stuart Wardley’s side then doubled their lead six minutes later when Charlie Portway scored a great individual effort to take a 0-2 lead into the half-time break.

Greg Strong then made it 0-3 as tapped the ball home unmarked inside the box after latching onto a cross.

The Tons then found themselves down to 10 men after a second bookable offence for diving.

Saffron Walden were also down to 10-men shortly after as Ryan Fleming picked up a second yellow card for pulling down Jeffrey Cobblah.

Clapton will now turn their attention to the FA Vase when they welcome Woodford Town to the Old Spotted Dog on Saturday.
