Clapton secured their progress into the second round of the London Senior Cup with a 4-1 victory against AFC Croydon Athletic in their first round tie last night.

The Tons made the trip to Thornton Heath as favourites and run out victorious with a comfortable win with two of their four goals coming from Warren Isoka and Jeffrey Cobblah.

Jeffrey Cobblah tweeted after the game: “Great performance from the boys tonight to get the 4-1 win.

“Left everything on the pitch.

“Pleased to grab another goal today as well.”

Goalkeeper Jack Francis also tweeted: “Another gutsy performance from the Clapton Football boys.

“4-1 away midweek cup win against AFC Croydon.”

Manager Jonny Fowell was also delighted and tweeted: “When you turn up with no CB no CM players and at 7.30pm to a cup match.

“A players car breaking down a long the way you know it’s not your day, but to win 4-1 against a good Croydon team and to score four fantastic goals says a lot.”

Clapton will now turn their attentions to the FA Vase when they host Thurlow Nunn Division One South side Newbury Forest in the second qualifying round on Saturday.
