Clapton progressed into the second round of the London Senior Cup after winning 3-1 on penalties against Woodford Town.

The Tons will now face Bostik Premier Division outfit Metropolitan Police FC after drawing 1-1 against their fellow Essex Senior League side but managed to seal the victory in penalties at Goffs Lane last night.

Jonny Fowell’s men got off to a strong start as Hassan Nalbani slotted home a cross from winger Ryan Reed inside the opening two minutes of the cup tie.

The hosts pulled it back and levelled it inside the first twenty and it was 1-1 at half-time.

Both sides came out strong and looked to grab a winner but neither could capitalise on their chances.

Clapton had to hang on for the final twenty minutes of the match when Dylan Ebengo was sent for making a tactical foul on the edge of the area.

Clapton: Olajide, Vigo, Ebengo, Loblack, Spencer, Morris, Jairette, Reed, Cobblah, Nalbani, Obamakin.
