Clapton boss Jonny Fowell wants his side to have a real run in the Essex Senior League up until Christmas.

The Tons travel away to strugglers Hullbridge Sports on Saturday (3pm kick-off) as they look to keep climbing up the table.

“I’m looking to win every game now until Christmas,” Fowell said.

“I’ve said to the boys we’re seven points behind the leaders with lots of injuries, anything can happen, so we just need to focus on ourselves.”

Fowell is under no illusions of the tough test they face the 19th place outfit at Lower Road.

“I’m expecting a tough game and they don’t have the biggest of pitches which makes it a hard place to go play.

“They’re very good at set pieces.

“We played them in one of my first games last season and we got beat 3-1, we then played them and lost 1-0 in the cup, before beating them at home 4-1.”

The manager admits they will be setting out a game plan to make sure they get three points.

“We will set out a game plan like we did against Luke With the big lad up front for Tower Hamlets on Saturday,” he said.

“We shut him down and he ended up playing in midfield so they could try get him on the ball.

“If we stick to our plan I’m confident of getting three points.”

The former Enfield Town under-21s coach revealed they will be getting more reports on their opponents to help them prepare although they must remain focused on their own game.

“I don’t know much about them, but we will be getting some reports on them, but we will just be worrying about ourselves at the same time and not be too worried about them.

“I do know they’ve got a newish sort of team since last season.”

Clapton will be boosted by the return of attacker Greg Akpele who played for the club earlier this season in their 3-0 defeat to Needham Market in the FA Cup but left to re-join Bostik North outfit Romford the next week.

Akpele will once again line-up for the Tons and is set to start on Saturday.

Although they will remain without Nathan Cook and Steven Sardinha who are injured, Tayo Adoweru and Jerry Jairette are doubts, while Dylan Ebengo, Nicholas Loblack and Jay Morris will most likely be serving suspensions for the match.
